16 Naxalites killed in Sukma

On March 28, on the information of the presence of Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, a joint team of DRG and CRPF left for the anti-Naxal operation. On March 30, 16 Naxalites were killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites.

"Another blow on Naxalism"

Amit Shah posted on the social media platform 'X' regarding this campaign. He wrote, "Another blow on Naxalism! Our security agencies killed 16 Naxalites and seized a large quantity of automatic weapons during the operation in Sukma." He further said that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to completely eradicate Naxalism before March 31, 2026. At the same time, he appealed to those who took up arms to give up violence and join the mainstream, because real change is possible only through peace and development.

When will India be Naxal-free?

After the encounter with Naxalites in Chhattisgarh on March 20, Home Minister Amit Shah termed it as "Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan". He wrote on X, "Today our soldiers have achieved another major success in the direction of Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. 22 Naxalites have been killed in two separate operations of security forces in Bijapur and Kanker."

The government has adopted a tough stance against Naxalism in India. Even before the Sukma encounter, on March 20, security forces killed 30 Naxalites in an encounter on the Bijapur-Dantewada border. These operations clearly indicate that the central government is fully committed to eradicate Naxalism from its roots.
