Tahawwur Rana News: Tahawwur Rana, the notorious mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, will now be on Indian soil in a short time. He is being extradited from the US and brought to Delhi by a special plane. As the time of landing of the plane is approaching, the security of Delhi airport has been strengthened in an unprecedented way. SWAT commandos have been deployed and surveillance has been increased all around.NIA will arrestAs soon as he reaches India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will take Tahawwur Rana into its custody. The NIA has registered a case against him in connection with 26/11. After the arrest, Rana will be taken to the NIA headquarters in Delhi, where he will be medically examined. Then he will be produced in court and remand will be sought.Transfer will be done in a bulletproof vehicle, many levels of securityRana will be taken from the airport to the NIA headquarters under special security cover. He will be transferred in a bulletproof vehicle and will be accompanied by Delhi Police Special Cell and SWAT commandos. Several Delhi Police vehicles will escort the convoy throughout the route. Several levels of security have been prepared so that any unexpected incident can be dealt with.Bitter memories of 26/11 attackTahavvur Rana's name had emerged as the main conspirator in the horrific terrorist attacks on Mumbai on 26 November 2008. On that day, 10 Pakistani terrorists attacked Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Nariman House (Jewish Center). 166 innocent people, including six Americans, lost their lives in this attack.Rana has been associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and American citizen David Coleman Headley, who was involved in the conspiracy of these attacks and who did recce in Mumbai before the attacks. Rana's role was proved on the basis of Headley's testimony and evidence.Extradition efforts were going on for yearsIndia was trying to extradite Tahawwur Rana for many years. He exhausted all legal avenues in the US, but eventually the US courts approved his extradition. In February, the then US President Donald Trump announced in a press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Rana would be handed over to India so that he could face justice for his crimes.
