Prem Singh Tamang: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Legislature Party leader Prem Singh Tamang has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Sikkim on Monday. Governor Laxman Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Tamang and his cabinet during the swearing-in ceremony at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. Tamang will take oath as Chief Minister for the second time. Tamang was unanimously elected as the leader of the Legislature Party during the SKM meeting on June 2. The swearing-in ceremony started at 4 pm in which about 30,000 people are expected to attend. In view of this event, tight security arrangements have been made in Gangtok. In the recently held assembly elections, SKM got 31 out of 32 seats while Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) got one seat.

Pawan Tamang will take oath as Chief Minister today

Let us tell you that the swearing-in ceremony has been organized at Paljor Stadium. Sikkim Democratic Front has got only one seat in this election. Front President and former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has lost both the seats. In view of Tamang's swearing-in ceremony, all government and private schools, colleges, educational institutions in Gangtok Municipal Corporation area have been closed for today. The purpose of this decision is to ban security and movement of vehicles in the area. Sonam Lama, Arun Upreti, Samdup Lepcha, Bhim Hang Limbu, Bhoj Raj Rai, GT Dhungel, Purun Kumar Gurung and Pintsho Namgyal Lepcha have taken oath as ministers in the Sikkim government.

SKM won 31 out of 32 seats
