Rahul Gandhi News: Congress Working Committee members on Saturday passed a resolution appointing Rahul Gandhi as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. After the Congress CWC meeting, Congress leader KC Venugopal said that the CWC (Congress Working Committee) unanimously requested Rahul Gandhi to take over as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Rahul ji is the most suitable person to lead this campaign inside Parliament.

In this election, the number of seats of the Congress has increased from 52 to 99 and has become the second largest party in the Lok Sabha. This will be the first time that the Congress will get the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha after being out of power in 2014, in the last 10 years the Congress could not get this post, as both times in 2014 and 2019 its seats in the House were less than 10 percent of the total seats.

In the recently concluded elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA won 293 seats and is set to form the government. This will be the first time since coming to power in 2014 that the BJP will form a government without a majority in the lower house.

Meeting chaired by Kharge

The meeting of the extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) was held under the chairmanship of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. In this meeting, the contribution of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Sonia Gandhi, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha elections was appreciated. A resolution was also passed in the meeting regarding this.

Party Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former party president Rahul Gandhi, organization general secretary KC Venugopal and other members of the working committee as well as senior leaders were present in the meeting of the extended working committee.

The working committee also passed a resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to take over the responsibility of the Leader of the Opposition. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the states in which our performance has been below expectations will be reviewed and a committee will be formed for that. The committee will submit its report to the Congress President after reviewing.

Moral defeat of the Prime Minister

The resolution passed in the Working Committee said that this meeting of the Congress Working Committee congratulates the people of our country for such a powerful mandate to save this democracy, protect the Constitution of this Republic and promote socio-economic justice. The people of this country have decisively rejected both the nature and style of governance in the last decade. This mandate of the Lok Sabha elections is not only a political defeat of the Prime Minister, but also his moral defeat. He ran a campaign of lies, hatred, prejudice, division and extreme bigotry while seeking mandate in his name. This mandate is clearly against the continuous suppression of democracy and democratic institutions after 2014.

Election results are the result of collective efforts

The resolution said that the Congress Working Committee thanks the people of the country for putting the Indian National Congress firmly on the path of revival. The leaders and workers of the Congress stood firmly. The people of this country have breathed new life into the Indian National Congress, for which we express our gratitude to them. The party ran an excellent campaign, centered on a strong defense of the Constitution of the Republic and the provisions of reservation opportunity for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes.

The resolution said that we put forward a clear alternative political, economic and social vision. The interests of the poor were at the center of our campaign and we outlined a nationwide social and economic census, so that social justice, empowerment and aspirations of youth and farmers could be addressed. This result of the general elections is truly the result of our collective efforts.

India Alliance praised

The Congress Working Committee thanks its constituent parties in various states for fighting these elections strongly. With the support of partner parties in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, the India Alliance hoisted its flag. India Alliance will have an important contribution in the 18th Lok Sabha. The resolution states that in the end, the Congress Working Committee, while expressing happiness over the positive change in the Congress, also acknowledged that many challenges still remain before us. There is no doubt that we have been revived, but we still have a long way to go to regain the prominent place the party had in the political life of the country. The people of India have given Congress another chance. Now it is our responsibility to take advantage of this opportunity and we are determined to do so. This is the firm commitment of this Congress Working Committee meeting. The Indian National Congress reiterates its commitment to social and economic justice and constitutional values, principles and provisions.
