Budget Session 2025 / Wakf Bill... There is a possibility of a ruckus on these issues in the budget session

The budget session of Parliament is starting again from Monday, in which a clash between the ruling party and the opposition is certain. The opposition will raise questions on Manipur violence, election irregularities and India-US relations. The government's priority is to pass the Wakf Amendment Bill and complete the budgetary processes.

Budget Session 2025: The budget session of Parliament is starting once again from Monday, in which there is every possibility of a heated debate and fierce battle between the ruling party and the opposition. The opposition is planning to corner the government on several important issues, including violence in Manipur, India's relations with the Trump administration, and alleged manipulation in the voter list.

Priorities of the government

The main priority of the government in this session is to get the approval of Parliament for the grant demands and complete the budgetary process. Also, the government will also focus on getting the budget approved for Manipur. Apart from this, the government is also looking forward to getting the Waqf Amendment Bill passed. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju recently said that it is the priority of the government to get this bill passed as soon as possible, as it will resolve many issues related to the Muslim community.

President's rule and budget in Manipur

In view of the recent violence in Manipur, the central government has announced the imposition of President's rule there. Home Minister Amit Shah may introduce a statutory proposal in Parliament in this regard. Also, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may present the budget for Manipur on Monday. President's rule has been imposed in the state since February 13 after the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

Opposition strategy and protest

The opposition has devised a strategy to corner the government during the budget session. The Trinamool Congress is going to prominently raise the issue of alleged manipulation in the voter list and fraud in EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card). Recently, Mamata Banerjee had alleged irregularities in the electoral processes. However, the Election Commission rejected these allegations and said that some voters may have the same EPIC numbers, but other details are different.

A Trinamool Congress delegation plans to meet the Election Commission to emphasize the issue. Along with this, other opposition parties including DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Congress have also decided to raise it in Parliament.

Other concerns of the opposition

Apart from this, the opposition is also planning to corner the government on the issues of US President Donald Trump's threat of imposing reciprocal tariffs, delimitation of parliamentary constituencies, and fresh violence in Manipur. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the opposition parties of the India Block will protest unitedly against the Waqf Bill. He also alleged that the current electoral process is no longer free and fair and is being influenced in a planned manner.

Possible uproar in Parliament

In view of all these issues, Parliament may witness a heated debate between the government and the opposition. While the government is focused on pushing its legislative agenda, the opposition will leave no stone unturned in raising sensitive issues like electoral irregularities and Manipur violence. In such a situation, there is every possibility of political turmoil in Parliament during the budget session.
