Delhi: The BJP is buoyed by the success it has achieved in the assembly and then the Rajya Sabha elections in different parts of the country. But the concern about Rajasthan remains. Assembly elections are due in Rajasthan next year. In such a situation, the BJP leadership can soon hand over the command of election in-charge to a senior leader in the state. It is believed that former national president Nitin Gadkari or any other effective leader can take over the command of Rajasthan.
In Rajasthan, the party divided between the pro and anti-Vasundhara Raje camps is unable to look united despite the constant efforts of the Center. The central leadership is preparing to go to the election fray under a collective leadership, but a section is maintaining pressure to put forward Vasundhara's face. The central leadership had taken the initiative to unite the leaders and move forward in collective leadership by holding a meeting of national office bearers in Jaipur last month. Party President JP Nadda had given clear indications that the party would go to the polls under collective leadership in the assembly elections. Despite this, the camaraderie does not seem to be diminishing.Differences in Rajya Sabha electionsThe party's differences also came to the fore in the recent Rajya Sabha elections in the defeat of BJP-backed independent candidate Subhash Chandra. Shobharani Kushwaha, an MLA of the party, even did cross-voting. Shobha Rani Kushwaha is the MLA from Dholpur, the home constituency of Vasundhara. Even before the last assembly elections, the central leadership had tried to make the current Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat the state president, but even then the party could not take Shekhawat forward under the pressure of Vasundhara supporters. Madan Lal Saini was given the commanddispute over pilotEven when infighting in the Rajasthan Congress increased, differences in the BJP regarding Sachin Pilot persisted. Pilot, however, did not rebel against the Congress. After this, the BJP also suffered a setback in the assembly by-elections held in the state. On the other hand, Congress has remained strong. This is also a cause of great concern for the BJP. Since, the assembly elections of Rajasthan are to be held just before the Lok Sabha, which can have an impact on the Lok Sabha elections as well.
Gadkari's name may emergeAccording to sources, the BJP leadership can now entrust the responsibility of election in-charge to a big leader to stop the camp in the state. Among them, the names of two senior union ministers and former president Nitin Gadkari can emerge. Gadkari and Vasundhara have a good personal relationship. In the past, when Vasundhara Raje had a conflict with the central leadership, Nitin Gadkari ended it only after taking over the reins of the party.
