In the 'History Talk' program of Chalkoi Foundation in Jaipur, the history of Rajasthan and the importance of Rajasthani language were discussed. Chief Whip of the Assembly Jogeshwar Garg raised the demand for constitutional recognition of Rajasthani language. Historian Reema Hooja highlighted the contribution of Colonel James Todd.

Rajasthani Language: On Sunday, the Chalkaoi Foundation organized a program titled "Discussion on History" at an auditorium in Mansarovar. The event featured an in-depth discussion on Colonel James Tod's contributions to Rajasthan's history. During the event, Jogeshwar Garg, the Chief Whip of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, strongly raised the issue of recognition for the Rajasthani language. This program not only commemorated Colonel James Tod's contributions but also infused new energy into efforts aimed at preserving and promoting Rajasthani language and culture.

Extensive Discussion on Colonel James Tod

Eminent historian Dr. Reema Hooja provided detailed insights into the life and historical works of Colonel James Tod. She noted that despite lacking formal historical training, Tod presented Rajasthan's history in a vast and remarkable manner. Dr. Hooja described his contributions as exemplary, highlighting how Tod meticulously documented Rajasthan's tribes, festivals, traditions, and heroic sagas, preserving them as a valuable heritage.


Special Address on Politics and History

In his impactful speech, Jogeshwar Garg, the Chief Whip of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, emphasized that history should always be viewed based on facts. He called for a public movement to secure constitutional recognition for the Rajasthani language and urged the younger generation to take the lead in this effort. He also stressed the importance of research and documentation on historical figures like Veeramdev and Kanhardev Songara.

Emphasis on Language, Culture, and Traditions

Jaipur District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni highlighted the significance of the Rajasthani language in his address. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s New Education Policy, which emphasizes teaching in the mother tongue, and stated that continuous efforts are needed to secure official recognition for the Rajasthani language.

The Historical Journey of the Name "Rajasthan"

Educationist Rajveer Singh Chalkaoi shared that Colonel James Tod was the first person to use the name "Rajasthan" for this region, which was previously known as "Rajputana." After the Indian Constitution was implemented in 1949, the region was officially named "Rajasthan," inspired by Tod’s terminology.

Cultural Presentation and Tribute

During the event, Jogeshwar Garg performed a Rajasthani folk song, elevating the atmosphere. Chalkaoi Foundation spokesperson Lokendra Singh Kilanaut mentioned that this program was initiated on the martyrdom anniversary of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru and will continue in the future as a "History Talk" series.
