The opposition strongly protested against this remark and uproar started in the House.

In response to a question, Avinash Gehlot said that in the last budget 2023-24, as usual, the scheme was named after Indira Gandhi. After this, the Speaker suspended six MLAs including Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara. The angry Congress MLAs staged a dharna in the assembly itself and spent three consecutive nights and four days there. During this, the health of two MLAs also deteriorated.

As soon as the assembly session started on Monday, Congress MLAs again created a ruckus in the House, due to which the proceedings had to be adjourned twice. Congress workers from all over the state protested at 22 Godown Circle and raised slogans against the BJP government. During the demonstration, some workers tried to break the assembly gate, which led to a clash with the police. The police detained some workers and also used water cannons.

Speaker's mediation and deadlock continues

In view of the protest, the Speaker called some MLAs to his chamber and tried to end the deadlock. Govind Singh Dotasara alleged that the Speaker had said that first Minister Avinash Gehlot will apologize, then he will also apologize. But even when he was allowed to speak in the House, the minister did not apologize. Dotasara questioned the Speaker's intention and said that the government does not want to run the Assembly smoothly.

BJP's counterattack

BJP Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg said that the internal dispute of the Congress has come out in the open. He said that the Speaker had talked to the Congress MLAs, including senior MLAs, to break the deadlock. But Dotasara started giving a different statement in the House contrary to the discussion held in the chamber. The BJP accused the Congress of disrupting the House.
