India / Rajnath Singh to address Parliament on crash involving CDS Gen Rawat tomorrow

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will give a statement on the crash of helicopter that was carrying Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat in the Parliament tomorrow, reports said. He is likely to address the Parliament at 11 am tomorrow, reports added. He visited the residence of CDS General Rawat in Delhi today.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the Army helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor, in which CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat along with 12 other officers were on board.

Singh also briefed the Union Cabinet about the helicopter crash. According to reports, Defence Minister is slated to address the crash in the parliament session later.

According to an ANI update, "Rajnath Singh is monitoring the situation following crash of IAF chopper carrying CDS Bipin Rawat and others. A meeting of the senior defence ministry is underway."

According to an ANI update, the government is likely to issue a statement tomorrow in Parliament on the crash of the military helicopter with the Chief of Defence Staff on board.

Meanwhile, taking the issue to Twitter, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said, "I am deeply shocked & disheartened on hearing the army chopper with CDS General Bipin Rawat and 13 others have met with an accident near Coonoor. I've instructed the local administration to provide all the help needed in rescue operations even as I'm rushing to the spot."
