Russia, which is waging war against Ukraine, has proved to be 19 on almost every front in the war so far. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also realized that he is lagging behind in the fight. In such a situation, taking a big decision on Saturday, giving a big responsibility to the new Air Force Chief Sergei Surovikin in the country, he has made him the commander of all the soldiers fighting in Ukraine.

Since Sergei's appointment, Russia has made one thing clear that it is moving forward on the idea of doing something big while simultaneously intensifying the war against Ukraine. According to the website of the Russian Ministry, Surovikin is 55 years old. He was born in Novosibirsk, Siberia.

In the past few weeks, Ukraine has appeared to be taking the lead in the war with Russia. Ukraine has regained control of several areas, including the city of Lyman, which were held by Russian forces after the attack. Lyman is 160 kilometers (100 mi) southeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest city.

The Ukrainian army has pushed the Russian army across the Oskil river after a retaliatory strike. Lyman is also a major center of transportation. For Russia, it was also an easy route for communication and logistics through the land route. After taking the lead on Lyman, the Ukrainian army is eyeing Luhansk. At present, this area is also under the possession of the Russian army, but the counter-attack of the Ukrainian army is going on.

Recent setbacks for Russia in the war against Ukraine

- A bridge connecting Russia to the Crimean peninsula caught fire after an explosion on Saturday, killing three people and partially causing the bridge to collapse. It is through Crimea that Russia sends war equipment to the southern part of Ukraine. The president of the Russian-backed regional parliament of the Crimean peninsula has blamed Ukraine for this, although Russia has not blamed anyone for it. Ukrainian officials have from time to time threatened to attack the bridge and some have praised the attack, but Ukraine has not claimed responsibility.

In the beginning of September, the Ukrainian army pushed back the Russian army in Kharkiv in the northeast, conducting a tremendous counter attack. With this, Ukraine once again captured thousands of square kilometers of territory. Simultaneously, Russian forces have also lost control of Ukraine's southern Kherson region as well as the Lyman transport hub in former Ukraine. These failures raised questions about the leadership and strategy of the Russian army.
