Manipur Violence: Firing is taking place in many areas of the state between the commandos of Manipur Police and the miscreants. Fierce firing is being done from both the sides for the last 8 hours. Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has said that he has been informed that "40 terrorists" have been killed so far. These terrorists are using M-16 and AK-47 assault rifles and sniper guns against the common citizens. They had come to burn houses in many villages. We have started very strong action against them with the help of army and other security forces.CM Biren Singh has claimed that terrorists are firing on unarmed civilians. The fight is between armed terrorists trying to break Manipur and the state government, aided by the Centre.Rebels attacked 5 areasAccording to media reports, the insurgents launched a simultaneous attack in the Imphal Valley and its surrounding areas at two o'clock last night. These include Sekmai, Sugnu, Kumbi, Phayeng and Serau regions. In many other areas, information about firing and unclaimed dead bodies lying on the roads is coming to the fore.It is being said that the encounter in Sekmai is over. According to the report of NDTV, doctors at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal say that 10 people have reached the hospital in an injured condition in the encounter in Phayeng. At the same time, 27-year-old farmer Khumanthem Kennedy has died after being hit by several bullets in Chandonpokpi, Bishanpur. His dead body has been taken to RIMS and many people are feared dead. Kennedy is survived by his wife and infant son.Amit Shah will visit Manipur tomorrowHome Minister Amit Shah is going to visit Manipur tomorrow. He has appealed to both the Meitei and Kuki communities to maintain peace and work to bring normalcy. Army Chief General Manoj Pandey also visited the state yesterday on a two-day visit to review the security situation. Ethnic violence continues between the Meitei people living in and around the Imphal Valley and the Kuki tribe living in the hills. There is a demand to include Meitei people in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. There have been violent clashes with the Kuki community regarding this. So far more than 70 people have lost their lives. The confrontation started on 3 May.
