Along with the bowlers, openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill played an important role in India's victory. Deepak Chahar, Prashant Krishna and Axar Patel took 3-3 wickets to first bundle out Zimbabwe for 189, after which the pair of Dhawan and Gill easily chased the score without losing a wicket.

While Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings of 82 runs in 72 balls with the help of 10 fours and 1 six, Dhawan scored 81 runs in 113 balls with the help of 9 fours. There was an unbeaten 192-run partnership for the first wicket between the two players. However, by just 6 runs, he missed out on breaking the 24-year-old record of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. Had the Zimbabwe team scored a few more runs, perhaps this record could have been broken.

The pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill has now reached the second position in this list with 192 runs.
