Former Commanding Officer of Eastern Command

Worked as Chief Engineer in United Nations Mission

Take. General Manoj Pandey was commissioned in December 1982 in the Bombay Sappers, a regiment of the Corps of Engineers. He has also been a part of Staff College, Camberley, UK. After the completion of the course he returned to India and was appointed Brigade Major of the Mountain Brigade of Northeast India. After rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel, he served as chief engineer in the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea.


Led 117 Engineer Regiment on LoC

Take. General Manoj Pandey has also commanded 117 Engineer Regiment on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. He was the regiment commander during Operation Parakram. He then joined the Army War College, Mhow and completed the Higher Command Course. He was then appointed Colonel Q in Headquarters 8 Mountain Division.


After promotion to the rank of Major General, Lt. General Pandey commanded the 8th Mountain Division, which was involved in high altitude operations in western Ladakh. He then worked as Additional Director General (ADG) in the Directorate of Military Operations at Army Headquarters. Promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, he also held the responsibility of the Chief of Staff of the Southern Command.
