UP By Election: After the Lok Sabha elections are over, the entire focus in Uttar Pradesh politics is now on the by-elections to be held there. All the political parties have already started counting the votes. In this context, this election will be a big challenge for the Congress and SP alliance. Because, among the seats where elections are to be held, BJP and Samajwadi Party candidates have won most of them.

Many MLAs have also been elected in the Lok Sabha elections, so assembly by-elections will be held for those vacant seats. After the Lok Sabha election results, by-elections are sure to be held in Phulpur, Khair, Ghaziabad, Majhawan, Meerapur, Ayodhya, Karhal, Katehari, Kundarki assembly seats. At the same time, after the recent conviction of the MLA of Kanpur, by-elections are sure to be held there as well. The BJP-led NDA had fielded 8 MLAs in the Lok Sabha elections, while the Samajwadi Party had given tickets to 6 MLAs.

By-Elections on these seats

  • Phoolpur
  • Khair
  • Ghaziabad
  • Majhawan
  • Meerapur
  • Ayodhya
  • Karhal
  • Katehari
  • Kundarki
Political analysts believe that Congress' success on 6 seats in UP has given a new lease of life to the party. In such a situation, with increased morale, it can demand some seats from Samajwadi Party in the by-elections. Therefore, only time will tell to what extent Congress is successful in this bargaining of seats. Along with this, it will also be interesting to see whether Congress, which has joined hands with SP in the Lok Sabha elections, will activate its workers like in the Lok Sabha elections to ensure victory of SP candidates?

According to political experts, both Congress and Samajwadi Party, excited by the latest results of Lok Sabha, are already eyeing the next assembly elections. But before that, the by-elections to be held in the state will be important for both the parties in terms of their relations and performance. Especially, the biggest challenge for Congress will be to save its vote bank.
