INDIA Alliance: Efforts to run the proceedings smoothly in the Upper House Rajya Sabha in the winter session of Parliament are continuously failing. The confrontation between the opposition and the ruling party has now reached such a level that opposition MPs are preparing to bring a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Opposition's allegation and plan for no-confidence motion

According to sources, the alliance of opposition parties INDIA has started the process of bringing a no-confidence motion under Article 67 (B) of the Constitution, accusing the Chairman of being biased. Many opposition parties including Trinamool Congress (TMC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) have signed in support of this proposal.

The opposition says that the Chairman has failed to conduct the business of the House impartially and has been taking decisions in favor of the ruling party.

Ruling party's response

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has rejected these allegations and accused the opposition of disrupting the proceedings of Parliament. NDA MPs claimed that opposition leaders were behaving irresponsibly and seeking support from foreign forces to harm the country's security and economy.

Proceedings being adjourned repeatedly

On Monday, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned thrice and eventually adjourned for the day. The atmosphere in the House remained tense due to sharp allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling party and the opposition.

The opposition raised issues related to the Adani Group and made serious allegations against the Prime Minister and the government.

The ruling party accused the Congress of conspiring to spread instability through foreign organizations.

Chairman's meeting

To end the deadlock in the Rajya Sabha, the Chairman has called a meeting with the floor leaders at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The Chairman urged to maintain peace in the House and run the business smoothly. However, opposition MPs allege that they are not being given an opportunity to raise their issues.

Questions on impartiality

During the parliamentary proceedings, Congress MPs Rajeev Shukla and Digvijay Singh accused the Chairman of violating rules and adopting a partisan attitude. Shukla asked, "On what basis are the ruling party members being allowed to switch on the mic and express their views, while the opposition's demands are being ignored?"

Way forward

This deadlock between the opposition and the ruling party in the Rajya Sabha is not only disrupting the parliamentary process but also destabilizing the political situation in the country. Whether a no-confidence motion is introduced or not will be clear in the coming days, but the hopes of smooth proceedings in Parliament seem bleak at the moment.

Conclusion

Dialogue and coordination are extremely important in parliamentary democracy. The current developments show that the lack of cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition is affecting the functioning of Parliament. If the two sides do not find a solution together, this situation can weaken public confidence.
