The exercise of writing a new chapter in the history of the Green Park Stadium, built in 1945 on the banks of the Ganges in Kanpur, has started. If the efforts of the Divisional Commissioner pay off, then in the next few years the capacity of Greenpark Stadium will reach 50 thousand.
After this, this stadium will be able to compete with Lucknow's Ekana Stadium. Currently, Greenpark can seat about 30,000 spectators, while the Ekana Stadium has a capacity of 50,000. The Chief Secretary, who was on a tour of the city, along with his wife, inspected the ongoing works at Greenpark Stadium at eight o'clock in the morning. During this, the Commissioner demanded money from the Chief Secretary to increase the audience capacity. So that Greenpark Stadium can be prepared to compete with private stadiums like Ekana Stadium in the capital Lucknow.During this, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the ongoing work of the first phase to make the stadium even better through Kanpur Smart City and asked to complete it on time. The Chief Secretary suggested setting up of interactive digital kiosks and displays at two to three points for the information and active participation of the guests and cricket lovers. The Divisional Commissioner instructed the CEO Smart City to install it in three months. At the same time, CS also suggested setting up of Greenpark Club to effectively operate the facilities of Greenpark Visitor Gallery and newly under construction badminton court.These facilities will start soonKanpur Smart City Limited has taken up the ambitious project of setting up a visitor gallery at the stadium. This has been done in two phases. In the first phase, the project is worth four crores, which consists of six blocks. Apart from the performance section, restaurant, souvenir shop, two virtual pitches, theatre, display section, cricket cafe and audio visual room are being built in it. All these facilities will be started next month. An additional display section, selfie point, additional toilets for male and female will be completed in the next six months from about three crore in the second phase.
