BRICS: BRICS is a global platform. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa were its five member countries. But now some new members have joined it. There is a dilemma regarding Saudi Arabia. Has he also joined BRICS or is he just thinking about it?

According to a news agency report, Saudi has still not formally said about joining BRICS. A Saudi official has told this to news agency Reuters. This thing in itself is very strange because South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor had claimed that on Wednesday itself Saudi Kingdom has joined the BRICS group.

First Argentina said ‘no’

In August last year, BRICS had sent invitations to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Iran, Argentina and Ethiopia to join this global platform from January 1. Later last year, when there was a change of power in Argentina, i.e. when Javier Milli became the President, he said that Argentina will not be a part of this group now. Argentina's decision was then termed as support for America in opposition to China. Xavier is considered anti-China. He calls himself an anarcho-capitalist.

Global order will change!

The inclusion of more countries in BRICS will give it more strength economically. BRICS is trying to emerge as the champion of the Global South. After the inclusion of these new countries, this effort of BRICS will get wings. However, the current situation, where Argentina's refusal and Saudi Arabia's mere consideration even after February arrives, may increase the group's problems. It is being said that due to increase in the size of BRICS, there may be a change in the global order.

The real reason for Saudi not joining

Faisal Alibrahim is currently the Minister of Economy related matters of Saudi Arabia. He had said only last month that Saudi Arabia is still looking into this matter. He has not decided to join yet. The capital of Saudi Arabia is Riyadh. Riyadh is actually worried about what stance to take in the situation of geo-political tension between China, Russia and America. If Saudi comes with BRICS, it will be less of a blow for America. At the same time, Saudi's neighbor and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member country UAE has said that it has joined BRICS.
