Champions Trophy 2025: The coming weeks are going to be very important for Pakistan cricket. At present, the Pakistan team is playing a Test series against England, in which everyone's eyes are on their performance. In the last two and a half years, Pakistan has not won any Test match on its home ground, so this series is very special for them.

However, the real concern is about hosting the Champions Trophy, which is to be held in February-March 2025. Pakistan has been given the hosting of this tournament, but the status of the event is still not clear. Recently there is a discussion that the Champions Trophy can be organized in some other country, such as South Africa, instead of Pakistan.

Team India issue

The Pakistan Cricket Board is preparing to host the tournament, but the biggest question is whether the Indian team will go to Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that only the Government of India can take a decision in this regard.

ICC's options

The ICC is considering three options for hosting the Champions Trophy: hosting it in Pakistan, a hybrid event, or hosting it in another country altogether. The options include the UAE, Sri Lanka, and now South Africa. South Africa has not hosted a senior ICC tournament since the 2007 T20 World Cup.

When will the decision be made?

All eyes are on which option the ICC will choose. A decision is expected by November, leaving Pakistan Cricket Board officials holding their breath. Meanwhile, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi claims that the Champions Trophy will be held entirely in Pakistan, and preparations are underway at stadiums in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi.

Thus, these weeks could prove to be decisive for Pakistan cricket, and the future of hosting the Champions Trophy could be decided.
