Mukhtar Ansari Death: After the death of Mukhtar Ansari due to heart attack, security has been tightened in Mau. Police is also keeping a close watch in Banda. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is holding a meeting with officials at his home. DGP Prashant Kumar, ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash are also present in the meeting. The developments are being closely monitored from the Chief Minister's residence. CM Yogi has instructed the officials to ensure that no untoward incident happens in the state.

Section 144 implemented in UP

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar said that after the death of Mukhtar Ansari, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been imposed in the entire Uttar Pradesh. He informed that there is special deployment of police personnel in Banda, Mau, Ghazipur and Varanasi districts.

Hospital confirmed Mukhtar's death

Mukhtar Ansari was in jail since 2005

Let us tell you that Mukhtar was admitted to the hospital for about 14 hours on Tuesday after complaining of stomach ache. Ansari, 63, was a five-time former MLA from Mau Sadar seat and was behind bars in UP and Punjab since 2005. More than 60 criminal cases were pending against him. He was sentenced by various courts of Uttar Pradesh in eight cases from September 2022 and was lodged in Banda jail. His name was in the list of 66 gangsters released by Uttar Pradesh Police last year.
