Cricket / Dwayne Bravo to retire from international cricket after 2021 T20 World Cup

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has confirmed that he will retire from international cricket after the T20 World Cup 2021. The 38-year-old made the announcement after Sri Lanka defeated West Indies and ensured they won't reach the semi-finals. Bravo had come out of retirement in 2019 and he has featured in all seven T20 World Cups.

Cricket Desk: West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo has revealed that he will bring the curtains down on his international cricketing career after the conclusion of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup.

Bravo said that he has had a good career, and the time has come to walk away into the sunset. Bravo also revealed that he is grateful to have represented the West Indies cricket team for a period of 18 years, and has had several ups and downs in his illustrious career.

Bravo also added that he is proud of the era in which he has played because the West Indies side was able to distinguish themselves in the global stage and has also won some trophies to prove their worth as well.

“I think the time has come. I’ve had a very good career. To represent the West Indies for 18 years, had some ups and downs, but as I look back at it I’m very grateful to represent the region and the Caribbean people for so long.

“One thing I am proud about is that the era of cricketers we had we were able to make a name for ourselves on the global stage and not only do that but have silverware to show for it,” said Dwayne Bravo according to Cricbuzz.

Dwayne Bravo is the highest wicket-taker for the West Indies side in T20I cricket. The right arm pacer has scalped 78 wickets in 90 matches for the ‘Men in Maroon’ and has scalped his wickets at an average of 25.64 and a strike rate of 18.90.

Bravo was also a part of the West Indies squad that won the ICC T20 World Cup title both in 2012 as well as in 2016. He has also scored 1245 runs with the willow in T20Is as well. Apart from that, Bravo represented the West Indies in 40 Tests and 164 ODIs.

While he has scored 2200 runs in the whites, Bravo has amassed 2968 runs in the ODI format of the game. With the ball, Bravo picked up 86 wickets in Tests, while he scalped 199 wickets in ODI cricket.
