The Election Commission of India has issued a new guideline in view of the upcoming assembly elections. According to this, now 20 people will be allowed instead of 10 for door to door campaign. At the same time, 500 people can attend the indoor meeting instead of 300. The Election Commission had on January 22 extended the ban on physical rallies and road shows till January 31, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to this, now 20 people will be allowed instead of 10 for door to door campaign. At the same time, 500 people can attend the indoor meeting instead of 300. In the last meeting, permission was given for the rally for the first and second phases. The commission had allowed physical public meetings of political parties or contesting candidates on January 22 from January 28 and for Phase II from February 1. According to this, instead of 500, a gathering of 1000 people will be allowed.

Earlier the limit of five persons for door to door campaign was raised to 10 persons, excluding security personnel and video vans for campaigning in designated open spaces with COVID restrictions, which has now been increased to 20. Let us inform that the assembly elections in five states in UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur will be held from February 10 to March 7. Counting of votes will be done on March 10.
