Khelo India: For the first time in India's Khelo India programme, Para Games will be held in Delhi from 10 to 17 December. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement on Wednesday. The Para Games will be held for eight days in three stadiums in the capital Delhi. More than 1350 athletes from 32 states and union territories will participate in seven events in the Para Games. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that this tournament will prove to be a 'game changer' for para sports in the country.

Sports Minister said this

"I am proud to announce that the first Khelo India Para Games will be held across various venues in New Delhi from December 10 to 17," Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said in a video uploaded on his official 'X' handle. A total of seven events will be played in three stadiums of Sports Authority of India (SAI).

These seven events are Para Athletics, Para Shooting, Para Archery, Para Football, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis and Para Weightlifting. This tournament will be played in three stadiums of SAI, IG Stadium, Tughlakabad Shooting Range and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Hangzhou Asian Para Games stars Sheetal Devi, Bhavina Patel, Ekta Bhayan, Neeraj Yadav, Singhraj, Manish, Sonal, Rakesh Kumar and Sarita are expected to represent their respective states in the Para Games.

This is the aim of Khelo India

Khelo India Games is an initiative of the Government of India, which was launched in 2017. According to the official website, "Khelo India program has been introduced to promote sports culture in India at the grassroots level by creating a strong framework for all. The main objective of Khelo India is to enable the youth to get involved in sports as much as possible. Now Till date, a total of 5 Khelo India Youth Games, 3 Khelo India University Games and 3 Khelo India Winter Games have been organised.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised the Indian Para Archery team for its victory in the Asian Para Archery Championship. He had said that the team has won a total of 9 medals in the championship with its best performance till date, which also includes 4 gold medals.
