Hania was living outside Palestine since 2019. It is said that he is hiding in Qatar. It was under the supervision of Ismail Haniya that Hamas plotted the most barbaric attack on Israel in the last 75 years.

Haniyya joined Hamas in 1987. Ismail Haniya became the chief political leader of Hamas since 2017. The Shura Council, the highest decision-making body in Hamas, re-elected him for four years in 2021. There was no one else to challenge him in the organization, so he was elected unopposed.

IRGC confirmed

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed in a statement that the attack targeted Haniyya's hideout in Tehran, killing the Hamas chief as well as a bodyguard.

Who is Ismail Haniyya?

Ismail Haniyya was born in 1962 in the Al-Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. He is a Palestinian leader. Ismail served as the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority (PA) from 2006 to 2007. Hamas won a majority of seats in the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections. The government was dissolved after factional fighting with rival Fatah and an autonomous Hamas-led administration was established in the Gaza Strip. Haniyya has served as the leader of the de facto government in the Gaza Strip (2007–14). In 2017, he was elected as Hamas' political bureau chief, replacing Khaled Meshaal.
