Manmohan Singh: The death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has left India and the Congress party in mourning. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi called it a great personal loss and said that Manmohan Singh was a "friend, philosopher and guide" for her.

92-year-old Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday night. Sonia Gandhi recalled his wisdom, nobility and humility and said that his contribution to India's progress and development is incomparable.

Will be remembered for centuries

Sonia Gandhi said that Dr. Singh's ideas, advice and foresight improved the lives of millions of people. They underlined India's economic and social development during 2004-2014 under his leadership.

Sonia said, "Dr. Singh was committed to social justice, secularism and democratic values. His honesty and integrity earned him respect in India and around the world."

Incomparable contribution

Dr. Manmohan Singh presented high ideals in every aspect of his life. The Congress party and the country will always remember him for his compassion, humility and leadership. His departure has left a void in national life which is impossible to fill.
