Manipur Violence: Politics has intensified in Manipur in the case of two women being paraded naked. The side and the opposition are fiercely attacking each other. Questions were raised on the silence of PM Narendra Modi from the Congress side. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lashed out at the Congress party on this issue. He said that the Congress party is suddenly showing so much interest in Manipur. The party should look back a little. It is important to see the response of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in similar crises.

Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke on the concern of Congress on Manipur

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the duplicity of the party is worrying. Manipur had become the blockade capital during the UPA regime. Congress ruled Manipur from 2010 to 2017. In such a situation, there used to be blockade for about 30 days to 139 days every year. The Assam CM said that every year during the blockade, the prices of petrol and LPG used to increase from Rs 240 to Rs 1900 per litre. In 2011, separate blockades lasted for more than 120 days in Manipur.

The blockade used to last for 123 days during the Congress era

He said that in the year 2011, Manipur was burning. During this the then Prime Minister and UPA Chairman did not utter a word during those 123 days. He was busy rescuing private companies and bailing them out from drowning. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that it would take time to mend the fault lines created by misrule in Manipur for seven decades. Since 2014, there has been an improvement in the social fabric of Manipur. The process of resolving the decades old caste conflicts will end soon.
