T20 World Cup 2024: The sudden deterioration in the internal security of Bangladesh on August 5 has also increased the concern of the ICC. Protests were being seen in Bangladesh for a long time against the Sheikh Hasina government, after which on Monday, August 4, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post and also left the country, due to which a lot of chaos is suddenly being seen there. Currently, the army in Bangladesh has taken over the interim power, but the ICC is very concerned about the safety of the players in the Women's T20 World Cup tournament to be held there after 2 months.

The ICC is currently keeping an eye on the situation in Bangladesh

The ICC is constantly keeping a close eye on the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh regarding the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. A member of the ICC Board said in a statement to ESPN Cricinfo that the ICC is in constant touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security agencies and our own independent security advisors and is closely monitoring the entire development. Our priority is the safety of all the players. There are still 7 weeks left for the tournament to start, so it may be too early to make a statement on shifting it.

ICC may consider organizing the tournament in India or Sri Lanka

While on one hand the ICC is still keeping an eye on the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh, according to ESPN news, ICC can also choose India, Sri Lanka or UAE as a backup to organize the Women's T20 World Cup at some other place. The Women's T20 World Cup matches in Bangladesh are to be organized in Dhaka and Sylhet, in which the first match will be played on October 2 while the final match will be played on October 20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
