Amit Shah: At a grand ceremony organized on the 60th foundation day of BSF in Jodhpur, Home Minister of India Amit Shah made several important announcements to further strengthen the security of India's borders. On this occasion, Shah praised the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel for their courageous contribution and emphasized on the implementation of new technologies and programs to keep the country's borders safe.

Comprehensive strategy to deal with drone threat

Shah said that India will soon establish a "comprehensive anti-drone unit". He also informed that the tests of the recently developed laser-equipped anti-drone gun-mounted system have led to a significant increase in drone neutralization incidents in Punjab. According to the data, the rate of detection and neutralization of drones with the use of this technology has increased from 3 percent to 55 percent.

Shah said that this year more than 260 drones were shot down or recovered along the border with Pakistan, which is more than double compared to last year. This figure indicates that the activities of sending weapons and drugs through drones are increasing.

Expansion of security of borders under CIBMS

Work is going on rapidly on the "Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System" (CIBMS) to protect India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Shah said that this system was tested on the Dhubri river border of Assam, where the initial results have been encouraging. However, he also stressed the need for improvements to make it more effective.

Development of border villages through Vibrant Village Program

Shah also announced that the "Vibrant Village Program" (VVP) will be implemented in all the border villages of the country. Under this program, connectivity, health services, employment and infrastructure will be improved in the border areas. Currently it has been implemented in 3,000 villages.

He informed that the Modi government has allocated a budget of Rs 48,000 crore for the development of these villages and to stop migration. Apart from this, huge funds have also been sanctioned for fencing the borders, road construction and strengthening other logistics facilities.

Shah said that the Modi government has taken several major steps to ensure the security of India's international borders. Implementation of CIBMS on the borders of Pakistan and Bangladesh, development of modern technologies to deal with new challenges like drones, and comprehensive development of border villages are important efforts in this direction.
