Uttar Pradesh News: In Muzaffarnagar, UP, BJP ally RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary has made a big statement about the name plate on the Kanwar route. He has said that the government has not taken this decision after much thought. There is still time, this decision should be withdrawn or it should not be emphasized much.

Jayant said, 'There is no identity of the Kanwar carrier or sevadaar. No one takes service by identifying religion or caste. This matter should not be linked to religion and caste either. Everyone is writing names on their shops. What will McDonald and Burger King write?'

Jayant said, 'The government did not take this decision after much thought. Now that the decision has been taken, they are sticking to it. Muslims are vegetarians and Hindus are non-vegetarians. Now where should we write the name? Should we start writing the name on the kurta as well? Should we meet after seeing whether to shake hands or hug?'

Is there a Muslim candidate angle?

Sources are telling that Jayant Chaudhary's party RLD wants to field a Muslim candidate in the by-election of Meerapur seat of Muzaffarnagar. Meerapur is a Muslim-dominated seat and RLD's Chandan Chauhan won from here in 2022. Now this seat has become vacant after Chandan became an MP from Bijnor. After which Jayant Chaudhary has talked about making Nawazish Alam, son of former MP Amir Alam, a candidate from Meerapur.

With Jayant going with BJP, the Muslim vote has gone away from RLD. Jayant's statement against the Yogi government on the Kanwar Yatra is being seen as part of this strategy.
