Closure of Liquor Shops in Ayodhya and Mathura: Taking a big decision, the Yogi government of UP issued an order to ban liquor and meat in two cities of the state. Following the orders of the government, the officers took swift action and got the liquor and meat shops closed in both the cities. Officials say that these two are spiritual cities, so such activities will not be allowed there.
37 liquor shops were locked in MathuraOn the orders of the Yogi government, liquor shops have been banned in 22 wards of Mathura Municipal Corporation falling within a radius of 10 km around the birthplace of Shri Krishna in Mathura. After this order came to the fore, the district officials completely stopped the sale of liquor, beer and cannabis at 37 shops falling within a radius of 10 km from Wednesday.CM Yogi had announced last yearLet us inform that on September 10 last year, CM Yogi addressed a public meeting in Mathura on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahaparva. In this public meeting, he had said that all open meat and liquor shops will be banned in the 10 square kilometer area falling within a radius of two and a half kilometers from the birthplace of Shri Krishna. From the very next day itself, the administration started implementing the ban on the shops selling meat. However, due to technical reasons, open sale of narcotics continued at liquor, beer and cannabis shops.
Action taken on bar and model wine shopHowever, now the state government has also issued orders to close all 37 shops falling under the purview of 22 wards of Mathura Municipal Corporation. District Excise Officer Prabhat Chand says that now no liquor and meat shop is operating in 10 square kilometer area of Shri Krishna Janmasthan. The shops that have been closed include hotels with bar licenses, liquor, beer and cannabis shops and model shops etc.
People were demanding action for a long timeAlong with Mathura, liquor and non-vegetarian shops have also been banned in Ayodhya. Both these are spiritual cities, where lakhs of people visit every year. People had been demanding for a long time to curb the meat-liquor shops in these two cities. Seeing this demand of the people, CM Yogi issued an order to close both the liquor and meat shops. People have welcomed this decision of the government and said that this decision will help in the spiritual revival of both these cities.
