Manipur Violence: After violence broke out in Manipur, the house of the main accused who had publicly misbehaved with two women was set ablaze by his own villagers. After the video of Manipur went viral, there was anger against this incident across the country, whereas now the people of the accused's own community are also openly opposing the accused. The people who vandalized the woman are from the Meitai community and those who set her house on fire are also from the same Meitai community.

In the viral video, the police have arrested four of those who stripped two women naked and brutalized them publicly. Of these, the main accused Hurem Herodas has also been caught by the police. When the people living in the neighborhood of Herod's house came to know about this, they reached to burn his house. According to the information, the house of the accused is in the area under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, where on Thursday evening a crowd of his neighbors gathered and set his house on fire.

Women of Metai community burnt the house

In the video that went viral two days ago, Herodas was seen indulging in cruelty with two women. Now most of the people who set her house on fire are also women. Those women say that even though they are from the Metai community, they do not support this kind of brutality.

On 3 May, riots broke out in Manipur between the Metai and Kuki communities. Many people died in the violence. On the other hand, on the next day i.e. on May 4, two women from the Kuki community were stripped naked and paraded around the village by a mob of Metai community and vandalized them. Two months later, when the video of this brutality went viral, there was anger across the country. After growing resentment across the country, police action on this matter also increased and four accused were arrested.

Four accused arrested

Apart from Herodas, the names of the four people who have been arrested by the police in this case have been mentioned in media reports as Yulemembam Jiban, Khundongbam Arun and Ningombam Tomba, who are residents of Nongpok Sekmai. Herodas is arrested from Yeripuk market. Although he is a resident of Yaripok Bishnuha, but after the death of his father, he started living at his grandmother's house in Pechi. On the other hand, Jiban himself surrendered before the police on Thursday. Arun was arrested from Nongpok Sekmai and Tomba from Kongba on Thursday evening.
