Manipur Violence News: Tensions have once again arisen in Manipur. After the recent encounter between security forces and militants in Borobekra area, the kidnapping of six people from a relief camp has further increased unrest in the state. After this incident, women of Lamlai and Chalou villages of Imphal East took to the streets and protested vigorously. The state government has suspended internet services in six districts in view of the seriousness of the situation.

Tension increased further due to the recovery of three bodies

After the incident, three bodies have been recovered from the confluence of Jiri River and Barak River on the Manipur-Assam border. Officials fear that these bodies may be of the six kidnapped people. However, the police are still engaged in identifying the bodies.

Civil organizations of Imphal Valley allege that the militants kidnapped these people while retreating after the failed attack on Borobekra police station. This claim has increased outrage among the local people.

Protests and allegations against local leaders

Massive protests were held in Imphal and Jiribam demanding the immediate release of the missing persons. The protesters expressed their protest by lighting candles and accused the local politicians, especially the MLA of Jiribam, of negligence. They say that not enough efforts were made to search for the kidnapped people.

Internet suspension and efforts to restore peace

After the incidents, the state government has temporarily shut down internet services in six districts. The government has taken this step to prevent rumors and maintain peace. Along with this, a holiday has been declared in schools and colleges.

The Union Home Ministry, taking note of the situation in Manipur, has directed all security forces to restore peace and take necessary steps. The ministry has admitted that the situation in the state remains delicate and armed groups of both the communities are involved in violence.

Search for a solution

The current situation in Manipur is worrying. Militant violence and infighting have put the peace of the state in deep crisis. What is needed now is a joint effort by the administration, security forces and civil society to control the situation and ensure justice for the affected families.

Stabilising the situation and restoring trust between communities is imperative for long-term peace in Manipur.
