Bangladesh Violence: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has expressed concern over the recent developments in Bangladesh and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for immediate intervention. Gehlot expressed serious concern over the anti-India slogans and violence against Hindu minorities on the occasion of Vijay Diwas in Bangladesh and called it a threat to the strong relations between the two countries.

Historical relations between India and Bangladesh

Ashok Gehlot mentioned the historical relations between India and Bangladesh in his statement. He said that during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, the Indian Army played an important role under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Since that conflict, India and Bangladesh have had good and friendly relations. Gehlot said, "According to media reports, anti-India slogans were raised on Vijay Diwas. This is very worrying. We should not forget that India gave independence to Bangladesh under the leadership of Indira Gandhi." Describing the growing tension between India and Bangladesh as a serious problem, he said that in such circumstances the diplomatic and trade relations of the two countries are deeply affected.

Impact on the trade of the Northeast states

Gehlot, while discussing the daily trade between Northeast India and Bangladesh, said that this relationship is important for the economic development of both the countries. He said that at present this trade has almost come to a standstill, which has had a negative impact on the livelihood of the people of Northeast India. Apart from this, Gehlot also expressed concern over the stoppage of work on the memorial being built to commemorate the contribution of Indian soldiers in Ashupur, Bangladesh.

Atrocities on Hindu minorities

Ashok Gehlot mentioned the incidents of violence against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and questioned the silence of the Government of India on this issue. He said that people of Hindu community are constantly being attacked in Bangladesh, but no strict action has been taken on this till now. Gehlot urged the Government of India to put pressure on the Bangladesh government through diplomatic means so that such incidents can be stopped.

Contribution of Indian Army in Bangladesh War

Gehlot, referring to the 1971 Bangladesh War, said that it is a golden chapter in Indian history. Referring to the valour of the Indian Army and the surrender of 90,000 Pakistani soldiers, Gehlot said that it is important to make the new generation aware of this historic event. He raised the question that the absence of any big event across the country on an important occasion like Vijay Diwas is a matter of concern. He said, "Atal Bihari Vajpayee had given Durga honour to Indira Gandhi after the Bangladesh war. But today we need to take big steps to honour this victory."

Appeal to the Prime Minister for diplomatic action

Ashok Gehlot appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take serious cognizance of the growing anti-India atmosphere in Bangladesh and the atrocities against Hindu minorities. He said that the Indian government should talk to the Bangladesh government through diplomatic means and demand strict action on these issues.

Gehlot believes that strong relations between India and Bangladesh are in the interest of both the countries. If these incidents are not taken care of in time, it can cause serious damage to regional stability and trade relations. He said that it is India's responsibility to take a serious and sensitive approach on these issues so that the relations between the two countries remain strong and cordial as before.

Conclusion

This appeal of Ashok Gehlot reflects the concern to save the historical friendship between India and Bangladesh. Gehlot clarified that the Indian government should not only make a statement on this matter, but through diplomatic pressure, it should force the Bangladesh government to take steps to stop the violence. This is necessary for the bright future of both the countries and regional stability.
