India / Mob damages SDO & SP office in Munger; ECI orders SP & DM's removal

Unidentified people caused arson at SDO and SP office in Bihar's Munger on Thursday by damaging the office and setting several vehicles on fire. The mob was protesting against a man's death during the firing incident at the time of Goddess Durga immersion. Following the incident, the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered immediate removal of Munger's SP & DM.

Munger: Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered immediate removal of SP & DM of Munger. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident by Asangba Chuba Ao, Divisional Commissioner, Magadh that has to be completed with the next seven days.

New DM & SP to be posted in Munger today itself.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons cause arson at SDO & SP office in Munger, setting several vehicles on fire & damaging office.

“During Durga puja immersion, some anti-social elements resorted to stone pelting which injured 20 policemen after this someone from the crowd fired leading to one death. Situation under control,” Lipi Singh, SP of Munger told news agency ANI.

Who is Lipi Singh?

IPS officer Lipi Singh is the Munger Superintendent of Police. Singh, a 2016 batch IPS officer, had previously come into the limelight after she took action against Independent Bihar MLA Anant Singh.

Lipi Singh has a political connection as her father being Janata Dal (United) leader Ramchandra Prasad Singh. Her father is a Member of the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. He had been a close aide to Nitish Kumar, serving as principal secretary earlier.
