Delhi: With the G-7 summit being held in the midst of the Ukraine crisis and the challenges of the economy, that hotel is also making headlines around the world, where the event is being held. In Germany's famous Schloss Elmau Palace, where the world's stalwarts gather, there is no AC (air-conditioning) system, nor can there ever be a huge crowd.

The Schloss Elmau Palace, built about 106 years ago, is situated amidst the hills of the beautiful Alps. Sitting in the hotel here, the meadows spread far and wide are visible. It is just 100 km from Munich on the Germany-Austria border. Schloss Elmau is, in a way, a haven for big events. More than two hundred events are held here every year. The main part of the hotel is named - The Hide Away. There are umbrellas and benches in the premises for the guests. Apart from this, there are many places where one can comfortably keep an eye on others while passing the time, but no one will be able to see you easily.

Four things that make it different:

1. AC No Air Cooling : This hotel has 47 world class Presidential Suites apart from the common rooms. Most of the VIPs stay here but still there are no air conditioners. Even though the temperature in this area remains low, it is very rare in a hotel of such a large scale. Actually, the architecture is designed in such a way that the air cooling system works through the cold mountain air.

2. Plastic Free: The impression of the philosopher Johannes Müller and his ideas is visible in this hotel. His descendants have also not allowed things harmful to the earth and nature here. Schloss Elmau Palace is a plastic free complex.

3. Not overly crowded: This hotel has a special rule. Here only one third of the rooms are given on rent at a time. That is, two thirds of the hotel is always empty. Because of this, there can never be a huge crowd here.

4. Concert Hall and Benches: The concert hall of the Schloss Elmau Palace witnesses several major world-class events every year. Music related events are held here regularly. Apart from this, there is a world famous bench here, where guests definitely take photos while sitting. The hotel also has a library, clothing and bookstores.

special relationship with india

Artifacts of elephants are seen everywhere in the decoration of the Schloss Elmau Palace. There is an interesting anecdote behind it. Several decades ago, hotel owner Johannes Müller during his visit to India saw an elephant on a cloth. They took him with them. When the philosopher Müller learned that the elephant was a symbol of intelligence and memory, he decided to include it in the hotel's decor. Such figures in sofas, curtains, cups, carpets easily attract attention.

special things

It was built by the philosopher Johannes Müller together with the architect Karl Settler.

This hotel, built between 1914 and 1916, was occupied by the US Army after World War II.

Mueller's descendants regained ownership in 1961 after a legal battle.

Johannes Müller's grandson Dietmar Müller is the current owner of Schloss Elmau.

Earlier in the year 2015 also Schloss Elmau Palace has hosted the G-7 meeting.
