New Delhi: After camping overnight near Delhi, farmers, who are on their way to the national capital for the 'Delhi Chalo' protest march against Centre's farm laws, clashed again with the police at Tikri border near Delhi-Bahadurgarh highway on Friday.

VIsuals of the clashes between farmers and police show scores of protesters trying to wade through the heavy security deployed, removing barricades and forcing their way ahead in a bid to reach Delhi.

Delhi Police resorted to using water cannon and tear gas shells to disperse protesting farmers at the Tikri border near Delhi-Bahadurgarh highway.

Farmers were also seen using a tractor to remove a truck that was placed as a barricade to stop them from entering Delhi at the Tikri border.

The situation is intense at Haryana-Delhi's Singhu border as well where security personnel used tear gas shells to disperse protesting farmers who are trying to move ahead towards the national capital.

On Thursday, Delhi Police enhanced deployment of security personnel as thousands of Punjab farmers moved closer to the national capital.

Farmers attempted to dodge the police personnel and barricading at several border areas in Haryana on Thursday and by late evening, a large number of protesters were close to the national capital, prompting the Delhi Police to close traffic movement at the Singhu Border.

The farmers' protest march has impacted Delhi Metro services as well. While on Thursday, metro services from Delhi to NCR resumed after being suspended for some time, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said services from NCR to Delhi will continue to remain suspended on Friday due to the farmers' protest march.

This means Delhi Metro will not ply from neighbouring cities to the national capital today, until further notice. However, metro services will be available from Delhi towards the NCR sections, DMRC said.

Taking to Twitter, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday said, "Update for tomorrow (Friday). As advised by Delhi Police, Metro services will be available only from Delhi towards the NCR sections. However, services from the NCR stations towards Delhi will not be available due to security reasons till further notice."
