Rajasthan Politics: Salumber MLA Amritlal Meena died on the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday. He breathed his last at the age of 65. The cause of his death is said to be a heart attack. MLA Meena was brought to MB Hospital after a heart attack late at night. After examination here, the doctors declared him dead. The news of heart attack in Salumber has caused a wave of mourning among the general public including BJP workers.

MLA Amritlal Meena was attending a program at his residence in Sector 14 of Udaipur city. During this time, Amritlal Meena was taken to the Community Health Center after suffering chest pain. Doctors referred him to MB Hospital after initial examination. However, his life could not be saved. His body has been kept in the mortuary of MB Hospital. Many leaders including BJP state president Madan Rathore have expressed grief over his death.

Madan Rathore wrote, "I am shocked to hear the news of the sudden demise of senior member of BJP family and MLA from Salumbhar, Amritlal Meena ji. Amritlal ji propagated the ideology of the organization throughout his life and raised issues of public interest. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this intense pain. Om Shanti."

He became MLA for the third time

Amritlal Meena was elected MLA for the third time on the ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party. He continuously worked for the people of the area. It was his simple nature and hard work that the party kept giving him tickets continuously and the public also kept choosing him as their leader. He used to raise the issues of the area with alertness. Udaipur is considered to be the stronghold of Bharatiya Janata Party. Amritlal worked very hard to strengthen this stronghold.

Had to go to jail because of his wife

In the year 2021, Amritlal Meena had to stay in jail for more than 10 days. In fact, in 2015, Amritlal Meena's wife Shanta Devi won the Sarpanch election from Semari. Shanta Devi's rival candidate Sugana Devi filed a complaint against her for a fake mark sheet.

The mark sheet was found to be fake in the CBI investigation. Amritlal Meena had signed his wife's fifth grade mark sheet as a guardian. Therefore, he was made the accused. After Sugana Devi's complaint, the matter reached the local court and then the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ordered MLA Amritlal Meena to surrender in the local court in 3 weeks in the case. The court rejected Meena's bail plea and sent him to jail.

Now by-elections will be held on 6 seats

After the death of Amritlal Meena, the number of BJP MLAs has come down to 114. Now a total of 6 seats have become vacant in the assembly on which by-elections will be held. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, 5 MLAs won the MP election. Out of which 3 are from Congress, 1 from RLP and 1 from BAP.

The coincidence of 200 MLAs not being together in the Rajasthan assembly has been going on for a long time. Due to some reason or the other, this number has not been complete. Sometimes due to the death of MLAs, sometimes due to resignation or sometimes due to going to jail, 200 MLAs have not been together.
