Coronavirus / Schools in Andhra Pradesh to reopen on August 3: CM Jagan Mohan Reddy

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that the schools in the state will reopen on August 3. The CM asked the authorities to complete the first phase of renovation work under the Nadu-Nedu scheme in over 15,000 schools by the end of July. He added that his government had released ₹456 crore for the scheme.

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh state government had decided to reopen the schools from August 03, 2020. Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a review meeting on school education department here on Tuesday directed the officials to take necessary measures to reopen the schools following social distancing.

Chief minister Jagan asked the education department to focus on completing the school renovation works under 'Nadu-Nedu' scheme. State government had decided to give facelift to 15,751 schools in the first phase of 'Nadu-Nedu'.

Jagan said that a revolving fund of Rs. 456 crores have been released for this scheme to speed up development, renovation works of school buildings.

Chief minister directed the officials to maintain 9 key elements in every school across the state which include, play ground, library, science laboratory, computer laboratory, proper toilets and others.

Jagan directed the district collector to take regular review meeting on 'Nadu-Nedu' and complete the school renovation works by the end of July month.

Meanwhile, education department had intensified exercise on giving grades to the schools based on the infrastructure available there. Fees will be fixed as per the grading points.
