Colombo: An MP and two others from the Rajapaksa brothers' ruling party were killed in a clash between supporters and opponents of the government in Sri Lanka on Monday. Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Amarkirthi Atukorala (57) from Polonnarua district was cornered by an anti-government group in the western town of Nittambua, police said.
At the same time, people claim that the MP was fired from his car and when the angry mob got him out of the car, he fled and took shelter in a building. People say that the MP himself committed suicide by shooting himself with his revolver.Police said the building was surrounded by thousands of people and later the MP and his personal security officer (PSO) were found dead.
