In Sehore district, 3 child marriages were being done secretly in the Abujha Muhurta of Akha Teej (Akshay Tritiya). On receiving information about child marriage, the Women and Child Development Department took immediate action and stopped the marriage by reaching the spot.

In Sehore district, 3 child marriages were being done secretly in the Abujha Muhurta of Akha Teej (Akshay Tritiya). On receiving information about child marriage, the Women and Child Development Department took immediate action and stopped the marriage by reaching the spot.


According to the information, a joint team of Women and Child Development Department, Police Department, core member stopped 2 child marriages in village Dimawar in Nasrulaganj development block and 1 in Tikamod Ladkui.


In village Dimawar, Project Officer Girish Chauhan, Supervisor Manisha Sawale, Aruna Pathak, Anganwadi worker and police team reached the house of the concerned and asked for documents regarding the age of the girl child, the family members showed the marksheet for proof of the girl's age, due to which the girl was born on 16/16. Found to be 02/2006. According to the marksheet, the age of the girl child is about 16 years 2 months. When the girl child was found to be a minor, the parents were counseled in front of the villagers and told not to do child marriage. On persuasion, the family agreed to the person and talked of marriage when he was 18 years old.


At the same time, in village Dimawar, the officials stopped the marriage after reaching the house of the concerned and checked the documents of the girl's age. Parents were told to take legal action on child marriage and were advised, on which the family agreed and the marriage was stopped. In Tikamod village too, in relation to child marriage, the officials explained to the family members and prevented the minor girl from getting married. Let us tell you that under the Child Marriage Prohibition Act, there is a provision of imprisonment of 2 years and a fine of Rs 1 lakh for marrying a boy or girl before the prescribed age.
