Maharashtra Politics: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke openly on the results of the Lok Sabha elections in a program on Tuesday and told the reason why the NDA's seats in Maharashtra have decreased. He has accepted the loss due to BJP's slogan of 'Abki Baar 400 Paar'. However, he praised Prime Minister Modi and said that he has been working hard continuously for the last 10 years and has not taken a single holiday.

Speaking on BJP's slogan of 'Abki Baar 400 Paar', Eknath Shinde said, 'The opposition created such an environment with this slogan that if the Modi government crosses 400, it will change the Constitution. People kept this in mind and everything went wrong. This proved to be costly for our Mahayuti. We also suffered losses in Maharashtra. The Constitution will be changed, reservation will end... these were the discussions... nothing like this was supposed to happen, but the number '400 Paar' created all the problems.'

NCP Ajit faction supported CM Eknath Shinde's statement. NCP Ajit Pawar Group's chief spokesperson Umesh Patil said that they lost because of the slogan of 400 seats. The opposition spread a wrong propaganda on the slogan of 400 seats, which sent a wrong message among Dalits and minorities that 400 seats are needed to change the Constitution and this is why they lost. CM Eknath Shinde has said the right thing about this.

BJP has won 9 Lok Sabha seats

In Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party had won 23 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but this time it has come down to just 9. Shiv Sena under the leadership of Eknath Shinde won seven seats, while Ajit Pawar's NCP won only one seat. Overall, the NDA has won only 17 out of 48 seats in the state. In contrast, in 2014, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance had hoisted the victory flag on 43 seats.

After the election results, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took responsibility for the electoral defeat and appealed to the senior leadership of the party to relieve him of his responsibilities. During the election campaign, the Congress had alleged that the real intention of the BJP behind demanding more than 400 seats was to change the Constitution and end reservation. Many party leaders, including BJP leader Anant Kumar Hegde, had publicly talked about "rethinking" the Constitution. He said that to achieve this goal, the BJP would have to win 400 out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. However, the BJP leadership distanced itself from Hegde's comments.

CM Shinde will meet Agriculture Minister

On the issue of support price of crops, Shinde said that India is an agricultural country and the farmer is the food provider. If the farmer is unhappy, no one can be happy. He said that he will soon meet the Union Agriculture Minister and demand minimum support price for onion, cotton and soybean.
