The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased the toll on the country's highways. The increased rates will be applicable from April 1. According to the notification, this increase is from Rs 10 to Rs 65. This increase in percentage ranges from 10 to 18 percent. There is a minimum one-way toll rate hike of Rs 10 for small vehicles, while commercial vehicles will have to pay a maximum toll of Rs 65, depending on the distance.

NHAI reviews and changes the toll rates at the beginning of every financial year. NHAI Project Director NN Giri has confirmed the change in toll rates. After the increase in the rates of petrol, diesel and gas, this decision of the central government is going to hit the common people further with inflation.

At Kherki Daula toll plaza on Delhi-Jaipur highway, car drivers will now have to pay Rs 80 instead of 70 for one-way journey, while truck-bus and other big vehicles will have to pay Rs 235 against 205. All toll plazas across the country have been informed of this hike and the software has been upgraded accordingly.

The days of free travel on the nearly 60 km long Delhi-Meerut Expressway are over. Here from April 1, the drivers will have to pay the toll. Not only this, the already fixed rates have also been increased by 10 percent.

  • From Sarai Kale Khan to Kashi toll plaza, now car-jeep drivers will have to pay Rs 155 instead of Rs 140.
  • Car drivers going from Indirapuram to Meerut will have to pay Rs 105 at Kashi toll plaza.
Natural gas: Prices more than doubled, highest in eight years

The price of natural gas produced in the country has been increased more than double from April 1. This is the highest in eight years. This will increase the prices of CNG, PNG. The price of gas produced from regular fields has been raised to $6.10 per million British thermal units. In difficult areas, it has been reduced to $ 9.92 per 1 million British thermal units.

Petrol and diesel rose by 80 paise again

Oil companies on Thursday increased the price of petrol and diesel by 80 paise per liter. Their prices have increased by Rs 6.40 in 10 days. This is the ninth increase in prices after March 22.

Demonstrations across the country against price hike

The Congress on Thursday staged dharnas across the country against the increased prices of petrol-diesel, LPG cylinders, CNG and PNG. Congress MPs protested outside the gates of Parliament House on behalf of Vijay Chowk and Mahila Congress. Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has demanded the central government to immediately withdraw the toll hike on the highways. He said that this would increase the fare of buses as well as the general inflation.
