India / UP govt to give 1 month ration to 1.65 cr families, ₹1,000 to daily wage labourers

Amid rising coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced assistance of ₹1,000/month each to 15 lakh daily wage labourers and 20.37 lakh construction workers. He added that one month ration will be given to 1.65 crore families. Adityanath tweeted, "All the...workers will get ₹1000 per month from 'Labour Cess Fund'...by opening their accounts as soon as possible."

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced an assistance for daily wage labourers and construction workers amid lockdown-like situation in the state owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. He said that that that Rs 1,000 each will be given to 15 Lakh daily wage labourers and 20.37 Lakh construction for them to be able to meet their day-to-day needs.

“Rs 1000 each will be given 15 lakh daily wage labourers and 20.37 lakh construction workers to help them meet their daily needs,” Yogi said while addressing a press conference.

The UP CM also confirmed that a total of 23 people have been found to be infected with Coronavirus in his state. He said that nine people among them have recovered.

Following the centre’s advisory to hospitals on creating isolation wards for future requirements, CM Yogi said that there are sufficient number of isolation wards in the state.

The Chief Minister also urged people to abide by the ‘Janata Curfew’ called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

“We all must adhere to ‘Janta curfew’ called by the Prime Minister. All metro rail, state and city bus services in the state to remain closed tomorrow,” he asserted.

The government has reported 258 coronavirus cases from across the country so far.
