Dehradun: Uttarakhand Schools will reopen for classes 1 to 5 from September 21, 2021. The decision to reopen schools has been taken by the government after a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases. Schools have already resumed in the state for classes 6 to 8 from August 16, 2021. However, it should be noted that attendance is not compulsory. Students will still have the option to attend online classes. According to the instructions issued by the government, classes will be conducted only for three hours a day. Further, all stakeholders are expected to maintain proper social distancing, wearing masks, and others. Further, students will not be allowed to share tiffins in order to prevent the curb of COVID-19. The school administration should also ensure that proper COVID-19 protocols are followed. School authorities should ensure that buildings are sanitized on a regular basis, Classrooms, Offices, Washrooms, Libraries should be sanitized on a regular interval by the school authorities. Further, each school will be appointed a Nodal Officer who will ensure that the schools comply with the COVID-19 guidelines on a regular basis. In case any student or teacher shows symptoms of COVID-19, the school authorities, as well as the Nodal Officer, should inform the health department. In order to attend school, students need the consent of their parents. Further, schools will be teaching on a hybrid mode so that students can attend both online and offline classes as per their preference. In order to maintain social distancing classes will be dispersed at different timings so that there is no crowding on the main gate. The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 282 cases. The death ratio due to COVID-19 in the state is 2.15%.
