Manipur Violence / Violence again in Manipur, 9 killed, 10 injured in firing

Violence has been seen once again in Manipur. The firing took place between 10 to 10:30 pm on Tuesday night in Ajiganj village, located on the border between Imphal East and Kangpokpi district. 9 people have died in this violence, while 10 others have been injured. Actually, a whole group of armed attackers reached the village, after which this violence took place. The police has informed about this.

Due to the violence in Manipur, a large number of people have been displaced.

When a team of security forces reached the area to deal with the attackers, the encounter started. Shivkanta Singh, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East, said that we received information about firing in the village between 10 to 10:30 pm. 9 people have died, while 10 people have been injured.

He told that all the injured have been admitted to the hospital. Out of this one person is such, whose condition is said to be critical. The police officer has informed that the Assam Rifles is responsible for the security of the place where violence has been reported. At present, the situation in the violence-hit area is under control.

40 thousand people displaced in violence

At the same time, 115 people have died in the violence in Manipur so far, while 40 thousand people have been displaced. The marriage took place in May between the Kuki, who live in the hilly districts of the northeastern state, and the Meitei community, who live in the Imphal Valley. Since then, intermittent incidents of violence are coming to the fore. Along with the police, army and Assam Rifles personnel are also stationed here to control the violence. Due to this, success has also been achieved in controlling the violence to some extent.

The central government has constituted a peace committee to maintain peace in the state. On Monday, prominent civil society organizations from the Meitai and Kuki communities refused to be part of the peace committee. On June 1, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced setting up of a panel to reduce tension and restore peace in the state.
