Windies out on 150, debutant Ethnoaz missed Fifty

West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first at the Windsor Park ground in Dominica. Alyque Ethanoz (47 runs), playing a debut match for the hosts, scored the most runs, although he could not score a half-century. Captain Kraigg Braithwaite scored 20 runs and Tejnarine Chanderpaul scored 12 runs.

He left behind South African bowler Dale Steyn (699 wickets). He has become the third Indian bowler to take 700+ wickets. Before him, only Anil Kumble (956 wickets) and Harbhajan Singh (711 wickets) could do this feat.

Ashwin has come at number 4 in terms of taking the most wickets against the West Indies. He went past Beshan Singh Bedi (62 wickets), while equaling Bhagwat Chandrasekhar's record of 65 wickets. Ashwin has taken 65 wickets in 12 matches against the Caribbean team.

  • First: Ashwin bowled Tejnarine Chanderpaul on the fifth ball of the 13th over.
  • Second: Brathbet wanted to play a big shot on Ashwin's fuller length ball, but the ball took the outer edge of the bat and stood on the pitch. Which was caught by captain Rohit Sharma at shot cover.
  • Third: Full length ball by Shardul Thakur to Reefer. Reefer wanted to drive this ball going outside, but the ball touched the outer edge of the bat and went to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. Kishan did not make any mistake in catching whom.
  • Fourth: Fuller outside off stump wanted to play the length ball over Blackbud Jadeja, but Siraj, standing at mid-off, took a brilliant catch while driving to his right.
  • Fifth: On Jadeja's ball, Da Silva tried to play a cut on the off side and Ishaan Kishan was caught behind.
  • Sixth: Mohammad Siraj took the wicket of Jason Holder. Siraj bowled a short ball on which Holder played a pull shot and was caught by Shardul Thakur.
  • Seventh: Ashwin bowled flat near the off-stump, which Joseph played down the leg, where Jaydev Unadkat took a brilliant catch.
  • Eighth: Ethnoj, playing a debut match, wanted to hit Ashwin's ball, but was caught by Shardul Thakur in the direction of mid-wicket.
  • Ninth: Jadeja hit the pads of Roach, but the field umpire didn't give out even after an appeal. In such a situation, Captain Rohit Sharma took DRS and the third umpire overturned the decision of the field umpire.
  • Tenth: Ashwin got Jomel Warrican caught by Shubman Gill. This is Ashwin's 5th wicket in the innings.
