According to a release issued by IMD on Sunday, light or moderate rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. At the same time, scattered to widespread rain may occur in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh on 23 and 24. The Meteorological Department has said that rain activities may intensify in these areas today.

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms are possible in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan today. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir. It is reported that light or moderate rain may occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during five days.

According to the department, light or moderate rain may occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in these areas today.

Due to the development of a Western Disturbance in Rajasthan, there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in many districts including Jaipur during the next 48 hours. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of hailstorm in some districts in the next 24 hours. Jaipur Meteorological Center Director Radheshyam Sharma said that due to the effect of the new western disturbance, there will be rain with thunderstorms in Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Bharatpur and Ajmer divisions during the next 48 hours.

He said that there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Bundi, Bandra, Dholpur, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Kota, Churu, Nagaur, Sri Ganganagar, Pali, Bikaner and Jodhpur due to the effect of Western Disturbance. There is also a possibility of strong wind speed reaching 50 kmph in all these districts in the next 24 hours. He said that there may be hailstorm in Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Dausa during this period.

Sharma said that on May 24 also, it will remain in the form of thunderstorms in the districts of Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions of East Rajasthan. However, its effect will remain only in the northern parts of Bikaner division of western Rajasthan. He said that there is a possibility of heat wave in the last week of May due to increase in temperature by two to three degrees Celsius in the state from May 25-26.
