Generally Jammu has been considered a peaceful area compared to Kashmir. After the removal of Article 370, the security forces conducted a large-scale operation to eliminate terrorism in Kashmir. The terrorist organizations, frustrated by this operation, have now changed their strategy, now they are targeting the Hindu-dominated area Jammu. The 11 terrorist attacks in the last 78 days confirm that the terrorists are conspiring to spread unrest in this area by targeting Jammu.

Why are terrorists targeting Jammu?

Former DGP of Jammu and Kashmir SP Vaidya says that it cannot be denied that Pakistan and China are involved in this whole matter. In fact, the way the security forces have taken charge of the Indo-China border in Ladakh and Kashmir, both Pakistan and China are on the backfoot. Therefore, the terrorist organizations sitting in Pakistan want that all this pressure should be shifted towards Jammu.

According to SP Vaidya, the area of Jammu is suitable for terrorists because it is a hilly area which is covered with dense forests, while the road connectivity in this area is also not very good. In such a situation, when a terrorist attack takes place, it takes time for the additional force to reach. At the same time, the terrorists manage to escape by taking advantage of the dense forests.

Terrorists on the backfoot in Kashmir after the removal of 370

After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a decrease in terrorist attacks. Talking about the last 5 years, the army has killed more than 700 terrorists. In the year 2020, the security forces killed 221 terrorists, while in 2021, 180 terrorists were killed. Apart from this, 193 terrorists were eliminated in 2022, while a total of 87 terrorists were killed in 2023. Apart from this, 27 terrorists have been killed till July 13 this year.
