J&K: Four terrorists were killed Sunday morning in an encounter with security forces in Watrigama village of south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

One of the deceased have been identified as Tariq Ahmed, a Hizbul Mujahideen commander from Anantnag, while the other three were said to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The security forces had launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in Watrigama village in the wee hours of Sunday after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

All the entry points of village, including Achabal and Anantnag, were sealed by the forces and the door-to-door searches were conducted. Gunfire exchange ensued after the terrorists opened fired at the personnel during the search operation.

Earlier, two to three were militants believed to be hiding in the area.
