New Delhi: In yet another incident highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital, a 50-year-old property dealer was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Jafrabad area of northeast Delhi on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Raees Ansari. He was shot in the head by two bike-borne gunmen from a close range.

The victim was also a member of Chauhan Bangar Resident Welfare Association (RWA), according to a report in Times of India.

Raees was shot when he was standing outside his house. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, who were wearing masks, started a conversation with the victim. A few minutes later, one of the men pulled out a pistol and shot Raees. The assailants immediately fled from the spot.

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

"The murder seems to be the result of some personal enmity. People known to Ansari said that he recently objected to some men gambling in the area. We are also looking into previous involvements of Raees Ansari," the report quoted a senior police officer as saying.

The man is survived by his wife and three children. Raees' father has a grocery shop near his residence.
