A major accident also happened in Akhnoor

A major accident took place in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir in May 2024. 22 people were killed and 54 others were injured in this accident. 22 people lost their lives in a major accident on Jammu Akhnoor National Highway. Among the dead were 11 men, 9 women and two children. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep grief over this accident.

This accident took place at Tungi-Mod in Chowki Chora area of ​​the district. The bus fell into a ditch about 150 feet deep. This bus was carrying devotees from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to Shiv Khori in Pouni area of ​​​​Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir and after this the bus had to go to Mata Vaishno Devi.
